Zotero Group at Diigo (weekly)
-
Zotero, Now with Cloud | EricHoefler.com
-
Zotero instead competes with services like Diigo, because both allow you to make a copy of the content and add notes and annotations.
-
Zotero definitely wins as a serious research tool
-
Diigo trumps Zotero in its social aspects,
-
the pages you save and notes you make are stored on your computer and then synced online, instead of being held exclusively online as with Diigo, which means that even if Zotero disappears down the road, you’ll still have your content.
-
use Zotero offline,

Weblogg-ed » I Don’t Need Your Network (or Your Computer, or Your Tech Plan, or Your…)
-
The point you made which most intrigued me regarded the ‘technology plan’. Why don’t we press our administrative teams to design plans that focus on curriculum and how that will change due to technology changes. I agree that far too often they focus on hardware, not learning.
-
nfuse it, proclaim it, broadcast it, teach it.
-
I think hardware and learning have always been interconnected (written language being the first revolutionary technology).

America’s Top College Professor – WSJ.com

Like Prof. West, Prof. Burger believes that empathy is the key to good teaching.
-
Prof. Burger says that he wants “to think about what it’s like to be sitting in that audience, in a sea of people, when the professor is so far away he’s a dot and I’m looking at overhead transparencies. What is that experience like?”
-
Prof. Burger says that the role of a teacher is to change lives.
-
As much as he finds math fascinating, he realizes that most people will not use calculus after college. The utilitarian promise “is an empty one,” he notes. “You don’t need to know how to build a bridge to go over one.” He says that the hardest thing professors can ask themselves is “the 10-year question.” “What will my students retain from my class 10 years out?” And so his lecture is devoted to showing the audience how to “think mathematically.”
-
“I don’t give grades; I just report the news”
-
he is only convinced a student understands a concept when he can “explain it to an 8-year-old.”
